Wait, it's towards the end of March now? How did that happen? Who said that winter was over? How about this weather?!
Today is Friday, and your answers to #TuesdayTrivia are here! How many did you get right? Tell me in the comments below!
Maria de Salinas - This one comes from Tudor times. Maria (1490-1539) was a lady-in-waiting and friend to the first of Henry VIII's wives, Katherine of Aragorn. She moved from Spain to England with Katherine and stayed with her in her darkest times, from the years Katherine was widowed to the "King's Great Matter" in the 1520's. The character of Catherine Buckingham Hungerford was based on her. She would do anything for her friend, the Queen, and barged in when she never got her way. While their fates are different (murder versus illness), the pair represent strength in the face of danger and utter defiance of the rest.
Pope John X - This one I pulled out of the dusty corners of memory, when I was in Catholic school. I always had to learn about popes, saints and angels, and Pope John X caught my attention, especially how he died. Other than being one of maybe ten men claiming to the pope at the time, according to legend, he was smothered by a pillow (or died of depression, depending on what you read). One monarch in The Circle is Broken learned the hard way that children aren't just bargaining chips. He too would share the same fate...in his own bed like this pope.
Psychedelic Drugs - In Casting Shadows, the new Queen Consort of Klenard, Flora, loved to throw a party. After a while, people were doing uncharacteristic things and not knowing what happened the next day. Psychedelic drugs were the key! She used them to cover up her secrets in plain sight. Unfortunately, she wasn't so clever. Whether medicinal or for recreational uses, psychedelic drugs have been a hot topic of debate. It also represents a period of time in US history (1960's and hippie culture mainly) when many disregarded society's expectations and embraced a freer life.
That's it, everyone. Have a great weekend and stay safe. Namaste!
